Feb. 17 - Q and A for Teachers

Is February 17 one of five banking days for 2011-12?: No. It's one of two professional development (PD) days replacing the WEAC Convention days.
What was the other PD day?: October 28, 2011 was the other PD day for this school year.
How should the February 17 PD day be used?: It should be a full day of school-led PD, collaboratively planned by the principal and staff (particularly the learning team and MTEA building committee).
May schools select a topic other than the district's high priorities?: Yes, with the approval of the Regional Executive Specialist.
Are schools required to have a two-hour mini data retreat on February 17?: No. The data retreat requirement may be met on other days.
Is an hour on PBIS required?: No. Principals are encouraged to spend an hour on PBIS on February 17 - but there is no requirement.
Will our union provide an opportunity for feedback on the PD day?: Yes. There will be a comment form on our website.
