Representatives of our union and the MPS administration have reached an agreement on how banking days will be used if DPI requires the district to make up "snow days" during 2008-09.
Read the MOUs.
68 schools had voted to not do banking time next school year. Their votes provided the leverage our teacher bargaining team needed to negotiate the agreement outlined below.
The MOU spells out that all MPS schools will be on banking time in 2008-09.
It provides that MPS and MTEA will jointly request a DPI waiver if weather-related school closings occur next school year.

Recognizing a need to cooperatively address issues such as the banking day dispute, representatives of our union and MPS agreed to form a labor-management committee. A separate MOU provides for the formation of a joint committee to proactively develop a more positive labor management relationship. An equal number of MPS and MTEA representatives will meet monthly and take a problem-solving approach to disputes/concerns. The goal is to resolve issues through open and respectful discussion.
