Harold S. Vincent Scholarships

The Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association established the Harold S. Vincent Scholarship Fund in appreciation and recognition of Mr. Vincent’s dedication and many contributions to education, particularly teaching, on the national, state and local levels. Mr. Vincent retired as Superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools in 1966.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

The MTEA grants financial aid in the form of five $1000 scholarships to graduating students from MPS who plan to continue their education at a college or university (two or four year).

The winners are selected based on the content and quality of their essay. The Board of Trustees also consider the student’s scholarship and leadership ability.

Priority is given to students planning to enter the teaching field.

Application Procedure

Students must fill out a brief application, and write a one-page essay on the topic, "the teacher who has had the greatest impact on my life." These items, along with a high school transcript must be submitted to the MTEA building usually by the first week in May.

The scholarship awards ceremony is held in conjunction with MTEA's annual Retiree Recognition Dinner.

We Need Your Help

The Board of Trustees of the Scholarship Fund is eager to continue this tradition of offering scholarships to well-deserving MPS seniors, but we will run out of funds in a few short years unless we make a concerted effort to grow the Fund.

That's where you come in.

We ask, knowing that there are many other worthy causes competing for your generosity, that you continue to place education at the top of your priority list.

Please consider making a gift to the Harold S. Vincent Scholarship Fund today. Your gift, no matter the amount, will go a long way in keeping the Fund, and students' dreams alive.

To make a tax-deductible donation, write your check out to: Harold S. Vincent Scholarship Fund, and send it to the MTEA Building, c/o Vincent Scholarship Fund, 5130 West Vliet Street, Milwaukee, WI 53208.

Thank you!
