As Assistant and Deputy Executive Director, Sid Hatch has been a stalwart advocate for the rights and dignity of educators. He has earned the trust and respect of our membership and a broad spectrum of public education stakeholders. School board members; superintendents, principals, and other administrators; and community leaders recognize his integrity, strength, and commitment to a better community and successful public schools.
In fact, our city's local branch of the NAACP honored Sid as its 2010 "One Nation, One Dream" Theme Award winner.
In applying for the demanding position of Executive Director, Sid summarized his views on what our union is facing:
"During the next few years, the future existence of our union and our district will be determined. We must change to remain a strong, positive force advocating for public educators and education in Milwaukee. The future of our students, along with the professional and financial future of our members, is at stake. I am ready, committed and well prepared to help the leaders and members of the MTEA become an even more powerful voice for public education in our community and state."
