MTEA President Dennis Oulahan and MTEA Executive Director Tom Morgan are attending a news conference this afternoon being held by the Greater Milwaukee Committee. The GMC is announcing the formation of its Accountability and Support Group (ASG).
The new group is an unprecedented collaboration of government officials, business leaders, educators and citizens – including State School Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster, Mayor Tom Barrett and Jeff Joerres CEO of Manpower International. The ASG will provide accountability and support as we implement the school district’s “Working Together, Achieving More Strategic Plan .”
President Oulahan sees the independent group as a critical partner in the collaborative efforts needed to improve teaching and learning in MPS. “The GMC was the catalyst in starting a planning process that involved educators in the initial discussions nearly 2 years ago. Now, as the work begins to move the plan from words on paper to a reality in schools across the city, it’s essential that all stakeholders continue to be engaged. The GMC’s Accountability and Support Group will be key to maintaining a high level of credibility and support as the five-year plan unfolds.”
