Roadmap to Resolution

Conflict Management

The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) has a Roadmap to Resolution program to address member-to-member conflict. It is designed to assist members in resolving workplace conflicts they may encounter in the course of their duty day.

Teachers and educational assistants can benefit from the program.

How does it work?

Stage 1: Self-resolution

This stage helps the parties identify and resolve the conflict. Try to resolve the conflict on your own with these Self-Resolution guidelines (WEAC member log-in required).

Stage 2: Conflict Facilitator

Move to stage 2 if the parties are unable to resolve the conflict themselves. A trained Conflict Facilitator meets with members to assist them in exploring possible resolutions of the conflict.

Not every conflict needs both stages to be resolved. Stage 2 is designed to address particularly difficult situations that require the intervention of professionals.

What types of conflicts should NOT use Roadmap to Resolution?

Contact your BR or an MTEA staff member to handle the following:

  • Concerns that can be addressed through the grievance procedure.
  • Disputes between union members and administrators.
  • A harassment or discrimination complaint.
  • Criminal behavior.
