PI 34 is the new way that teachers in Wisconsin earn their teaching licenses. It was established so that teachers would be able to connect their licensure with student learning and professional development.

Teachers decide what standards they wish to work on during their 5-year initial educator period, and they record it in their professional development plan (PDP). Initial educators must assemble a team with a peer, an administrator and a higher education representative to provide advice on improving their practice.  The teacher's chosen team reviews their PDP and they are on their way to obtaining their professional licenses from the DPI.

More on PI 34

For additional information about the new teacher licensing law - PI 34 - visit the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

Use the Quality Educator Interactive (QEI) to create, share, and edit your PDP.
