Human Relations Committee

Works jointly with the Multicultural Educators' Committee to increase membership participation in the MTEA, addressing the concerns of educators by planning workshops and activities. Promotes participation in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Contest and other multicultural projects. Linda Gaston-Mounger is the MTEA staff liaison. 

 

Specific objectives for the 2008-09 school year:

  1. Increase membership involvement in the ongoing process of the MTEA with special emphasis on minority and new teachers.
  2. Help develop workshops and/or materials for teachers at all levels to focus on relations, classroom management, and assistance for teachers with a special emphasis for new teachers.
  3. Help promote participation in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Contest.
  4. Attend conferences/conventions on human relations and educational reform as approved by the MTEA Executive Board.
  5. Assist in welcoming new teachers at the luncheon organized by the MTEA Membership Committee.
  6. Carry out charges jointly with the Multicultural Educators' Committee.
