Legislative Committee

Specific objectives for the 2008-09 school year:

1. Monitor proposed legislation regarding the collective bargaining law revenue and spending limits, and privatization.
2. Recommend a legislative program that would impact education and educators in MPS.
3. When authorized by the MTEA Executive Board, communicate the MTEA position on proposed legislation to legislators.
4. Recommend utilization of both internal and external media to publicize the MTEA position regarding proposed legislation (e.g. Sharpener, TV, newspapers, etc.).
5. Help plan a campaign involving MTEA committees and members on crucial legislation.
6. Cooperate with other organizations concerning legislative matters of mutual interest and concern.
7. Help organize membership involvement in their own legislative districts.
8. Help organize and implement a reception with area legisators.
