Teacher Leadership Through Action Research

Milwaukee Public Schools has Action Research Fellows funded by the NEA Foundation Grant to Close the Achievement Gaps in MPS.

Action Research Fellows:

What Is Action Research?

Action research is simple set of ideas and techniques that introduce you to the power of systematic reflection on your practice. You are probably already doing action research in your classroom when you consider ways to better serve your students.  Action research helps you continually grow and learn by sharing with others.

There are 5 steps to action research:

  1. Make the commitment (call to inquiry)
  2. Design a study (questions and answers)
  3. Make sense of experience (data and analysis)
  4. Begin again (new and better questions)
  5. Improve your practice (lessons from experience)
