June 30, 2009 - Calendar Resolved (Almost)
MTEA and school board negotiators agree on most elements of the 2009-10 calendar, but banking days remain in dispute.
May 14, 2009 - Board Rejects Proposals
The school board's team introduced an 88-page "take-it or leave-it" package on May 5, rejecting your team's proposals.
It included 2 proposals the Board tied to federal stimulus funds - a longer day for elementary teachers and increasing faculty meeting times for all teachers.
March 16, 2009 - Bargaining Teams to Meet
Your teacher team is scheduled to meet with the School Board's team:
March 19 - safety and discipline, class size, and individual preparation and planning.
March 30 & 31 - MPS will present detailed proposals on health insurance

March 12, 2009 - Agreement Reached on Job Sharing
Your teacher team and the School Board's team have agreed to extend job sharing through June 30, 2012.
The agreement maintains the current contractual provision with 1 major change: the elimination of the option of 1 job-sharing partner teaching the 1st semester and the other the 2nd semester.
The teams agreed to implement the new provision this March.

When you review the Board's proposals, you will find much of the language vague and subject to many interpretations. Our team asked clarifying questions, and we are preparing a Negotiations News publication which will include the explanations provided to our team.
