Spring Break Changed for 2010-11 School Year
The tentative agreements reached on the 2010-11 calendars have been modified to avoid a conflict with an ACT testing date. Background.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU), bargained on July 9, changes spring break to the week before Easter.
For traditional school year and IB schools
Spring break starts on April 18 and classes resume April 26.
For year-round schools
The spring intersession starts on April 5 and classes resume April 26. The 2nd semester parent conference day will be April 4, instead of April 11.
Vacation/Travel Plans
If you made financial commitments for travel/vacation based on the earlier agreement, the MOU allows you to submit claims for reimbursement no later than Friday, September 10.
The School Board may reimburse you for travel, hotel and other expenses which are non-reimbursable, non-refundable, or generate other penalties.
Instead of reimbursing employees, the Board may allow you to carry out your vacation plans. In such cases, the Board will assign the employees work on April 18-21 or other mutually agreed-upon dates.
Please e-mail Nancy Costello with a brief description of your claim and supporting documentation.
