School leaders

School Leaders

The MTEA Building Representative and the MTEA Educational Assistant Chairperson are school-based Association leaders. They are elected by their colleagues in the school building, and they serve as a resource when MTEA members in their school have contractual or school-level concerns or questions.

Our school-based leaders fulfill many leadership roles including:

Enforce the contract
Solve schoolwide problems
Communicate with members
Involve members in union activity, especially new teachers
Communicate and carry out MTEA policies
Distribute and post Association materials
Conduct internal elections and other balloting procedures.

Building representatives and Educational Assistant Chairpersons meet monthly during the school year to conduct business and participate in leadership development opportunities.
