MTEA Executive Director
Tom Morgan is the newest addition to the MTEA professional staff. Tom joined us as Executive Director on July 9, 2007.
Since 1989, Tom Morgan has served as the Executive Director for the Rockford Education Association (UniServ Director for Region 21 of the Illinois Education Association).
Prior to his current position, Tom's union staff and his elected leadership positions were:
Tom has nearly three decades of experience in a variety of advocacy roles including: negotiations, contract enforcement, organizing, public relations, leadership & development, member representation, and political action.
Before Tom started his career as a full-time union advocate, he taught science at the middle school level in the Rockford Public Schools and at Roosevelt Junior High School in MPS.
Tom earned a BA degree in education at Arizona State University and an MA in counseling and guidance at Bradley University.

The MTEA employs a full-time professional staff to implement the policies and conduct the day-to-day work of the union.

MTEA Field Staff
MTEA Field staff are full time teachers working in schools or retired educators who work part time for the MTEA. They assist professional staff in a variety of projects including political action, issue organizing, and event planning.
